St. Germain Boarding Home
The need for a Boarding at St. Germain was felt during the late seventies. The Boarding facility, was started when Late Fr. Mervyn Coelho was the Principal of the school. He gave the dining hall, the name BIG ‘G’ INN- Over the years the boarding has catered to a cross section of students of the school who came in from the North East, Coorg district and other far flung areas from Bangalore. The boarding has stabilized over the years. The school located next to Coles Park, provides an ideal location for a boarding home. Added to this, the huge school ground is a place of delight for the boys.
The Principal of the school is designated as the Director of the Boarding. He directs and has effective control of the day- to- day management. The Staff consists of a Brother, cooks and helpers.
The boarding has an adequate infrastructure and also access to a study hall which doubles as a dining room, library, dormitories, an infirmary and medical facilities center, a facility for bath and toilets are available for the boys. There is a full- fledged kitchen. Care is taken to see that the boarders are provided with a balanced diet consisting of vegetarian and non- vegetarian items. Fresh Vegetables, mutton, fish and poultry are procured on a day to day basis. The Boarders are treated to a Sunday Special on Sundays. They are encouraged to develop clean habits, a healthy mind in a healthy body -is the ultimate goal. The laundry facility is available. The boys give their clothes for washing on the weekends. Periodical haircuts, daily bath and plenty of exercise are always encouraged.
The students are advised to say their morning and night prayers. On Sundays, Catholic students attend Holy Mass. Students of other religions are encouraged to visit their places of worship on Sundays. The Catholic students also have the access to the school chapel for prayer and silent meditation.
The Brother oversees the day -to- day operations of the Boarding. The Brother maintains a very strict control and has a watch over the boys as far as his academic performance goes.
this facility is made available in house for such of those students who are weak in certain subjects. The students of the boarding have always fared very well in their examinations.

The boarders are allowed to go home for the Dasara and Christmas holidays. The Boarding is closed for summer vacations.
The students of the boarding have always been encouraged to participate in sports. They have been the backbone of any team in the school over the years. The school management, led by the various Principals, currently Rev. Msgr. S. Jayanathan, has always been successful in running the boarding very effectively, assisted by a dedicated staff. Discipline has been the key word. It’s been a home away from home for the boys. They live together like one big family.
